The weather is getting colder and there are only rare winds a surfer can catch at this time of the year without catching a cold at the same time. However, this was not the case on Saturday, November 15, 2008, when everyone was heading towards the seaside. The weather was sunny and warm (15-16 degrees Centigrade), the sea even warmer (18 degrees Centigrade) and it promised a wind that would fill our sails. Is this enough for you to make you get up at 4:30 AM, drive three, four hours to the seaside, surf for four, five hours and sadly stop as the day is approaching its end, and then have to go through the ride back for another three to four hours? It’s enough, enough indeed!

The perfect jump (by Marin Mavra) |

That day I was returning from a business trip in Pula. Naturally, as any windsurfer who goes to the coast on any occasion, I too, took a look at the weather forecast for the day. The forecast predicted strong bura which would start by the end of the day. Since it was the beginning of summer, this information was encouraging enough to throw into the car my neoprene surf suit, as well as the rest of the equipment together with my normal, business suit. It would be really nice to treat myself with a surf – these were the thoughts going through my mind as i drove towards Pula... My wishes came true... in a perfect way!

...windsurfers go windsurfing! And soul-windsurfers are, of course, where the wind is, even in the middle of winter! People usually think that windsurfing is a summer sport, and the very thought of winter, wind, and water gives them cold chills. However, for a real lover, there are no obstacles. What is a bit of low temperature? With winter neoprene suits and hoods, you cannot get cold. And if you are lucky and in the midst of January the mother nature gives you some warm wind - ah, the soul is full, and the heart is singing out of joy. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Sometimes, you would not suppose what can make you happy. For windsurfers, southwest wind, in the midst of the continent, can be a source of great pleasure. This Friday I was with some friends on Lake Šoderica, near Koprivnica. It was wonderful! First of all, you cannot find such flat water anywhere aside from inlands waters. The potential for speed surfing is great. However, sometimes you may find small wave ramps and jump a bit. The most important thing is the inner feeling – and that is always present if the day is sunny, warm and – windy! Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Farewell to summer: on a Board to Seven Islands |
|
22. 09. 2007. |

You have to say farewell to summer on appropriate way. The forecast for its last day was not promising. Fortunately, this time it was incorrect. Sometime around noon, burin (small bora) turned to a real summer mistral! A gift from heaven, the last kiss of the Goddess of wind, who has been so generous to me this summer. It took me three and a half hours I drive 65 kilometers and visit seven islands in the Šibenik archipelago. I do not remember when it was so pleasant and easy to sail. The farewell turned into a real ritual! Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Bora in Karin (19 September 2007.) |
|
19. 09. 2007. |

Is it possible for wind to be too strong? Yesterday, I was coming out of the sea, and reacted to the objection of one bystander that the wind was too strong. Without hesitation, I said that such a thing is impossible! However, today, the bora wind in the Karin bay proved me wrong! Plus 40 knots of wind left me without strenght in half an hour. My equipment was too big for the wind's impacts. By the way, it was a lonely ride – the whole bay was white just for me. It was also a dangerous ride – two or three times I was in the water in the middle of the bay, trying to keep the sail outside the reach of the wind. There was white fog made from water dust all around me. People drown like that, I thought, when strong wind rises the water dust, suddenly it is impossible to breath… Write Comment (0 Comments) |

There is no perfect day without windsurfing! For me, such a day starts quite early, in those peaceful moments just after down. After some stretching and meditation, I sit at the computer and write… whatever I write. Today, 18 September 2007, I am in the middle of my new book, in a creative fire due to which my fingers fly over the keyboard trying to catch my thoughts. However, the real thing starts after that, around 10, with a nice south wind, which is getting stronger, promisnig at least 30 knots. And, if it is sunny… Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Moments of Eternity
Everybody's talking at me I don't hear a word they're saying Only the echoes of my mind
People stopping staring I can't see their faces Only the shadows of their eyes
I'm going where the sun keeps shining Thru' the pouring rain Going where the weather suits my clothes Banking off of the North East wind Sailing on a summer breeze And skipping over the ocean like a stone
